The problemn is most likely the plunger, it is two pieces secured with a
roll pin, if that works it's way out it will drag in the coil sleeve. ( same
set up as the trolls in MM )
Now the trap door is held to it's carriage by two clips holding two springs,
on the trap door's two posts. If the trap door is up, you can remove the
clips, the springs, and then the trap door. And then remove the whole
assembly from the lower playfield to work on it. Drill out the old broken
screw, use a drill smaller than the threads and you should get enough of it
to slide the trap door carriage off. Then fix the plunger, and then
reassemble everything. The special screw that holds the trap door carriage
to the plunger is available from Marco Specialties ( TOM and MM part ) put
the trap door back on the carriage, and then put the lower coil/bracket
assembly back in the game, then slide the trap door and carriage back on
from the top side of the playfield down onto the plunger below the
playfield. Put the fancy screw in and you should be good to go. LTG :)

My TOM;s trap door was almost impossible to move by hand from
underneath. I adjusted the screws slightly to adjust the coil to see
if it was just misaligned a bit. That didn't help but the coil is
working. So, I figured the problem was maybe just gunk in the coil
sleeve and linkage. I was attempting to take the single hex screw to
take the door off and look at the coilsleeve when the hex screw busted
off without budging the rest of the screw. Any ideas on how to get
the broken screw off since you can't take the part off the machine to
do anything with it?- Hide quoted text -

Once I get the trap door off and can get to the broken out screw? I
drill into it but how do I actually get the old screw out. Will
drilling into it do it by itself or what else may I need to get rid of
the additional metal of the screw surrounding the hollowed out area
assuming it may be rusted to gether a bit?
Also, when I get to the plunger, should I replace the plunger? Will I
need to replace the sleeve that goes inside the coil and the roll
pin? Will the long plunger come apart where the roll pin was at by
just twisting it or how will that work?
Lloyd, Thanks for the earlier info, it looks very promising
