I should have qualified my original post: it's not cool to withhold rare
parts that people need, just because you're holding out for more cash. It IS
cool to buy extras when there's vendor who is only going to run as many
parts as get ordered. It's more profit for the vendor, and it ensures that
more of those parts are available in the long run.
I've got my own list of rare things I need: Space Station ramp, Blackout
backglass, etc. If one of these materialized at a markup that wasn't too
obscene, I'd gladly pay.
I've given away (or sold at my cost) most of what I've been sitting on.
Sorry if my post led anyone to think that I condone price gouging. Anyway,
that problem always resolves itself: if it's too high, nobody buys.

Spoken like a man that isn't looking for anything for any of his
games. :-) I think a good percentage of people hanging onto parts
justify it by claiming to have trade bait on hand. That's my excue
and I'm sticking to it. it would be interested for someone to throw
together a 'hoarder's web page' to see what people have and what
they're willing to give it up for.
Hoarding any A13 plastics? How about some Fire! slings? Got any NOS
No Fear ramps kicking around? Jackbot 'face'? Dr. Dude slings? HB
apron plastics? The list goes on and on. For the most part, then
vendors are doing a pretty job trying to meet demand. Sure would be
nice if they filled in the gaps.
