Re: I just went to play SM at a local distributor and...

That is a load of crap.

Sales are sales. No sales... No business. I am a business owner, trust me,
every customer should be top priority. If they do not want the general
public (home user) to purchase from them, then close the showroom.

How long does it take to update the software? 15-20 min? Give me a break.

You make is sound as if your 4k makes a difference to a distributer. Your
4k purchase is like one candybar at walmart.

Remember you are a home consumer looking at industrial product. On the
industrial level, your 4k is sh*t. Look at it from his point of view,
some guy comes in and wants software updated on a game to see if he wants
it (from a distributer that sells to operators, this is ridiculous). The
only mistake he made is he should have just said no flat out.

When you go in to buy one pinball machine (I don't care that its 4k), its
like you going to the grocery store and asking if you can buy one egg.
Yeah, they can sell you one, but is it worth their while (nope) and the
fact you need tech support before you have given them anything, are you
worth the while (nope).

I guess I was not clear enough.

1. They told me that it would be fixed tomorrow.
2. I said that I would be back to play it... So while you have it back in
the shop to be fixed could you please update the software to the latest
revision?

If that is too much to ask when I am considering spending 4k, well tought
***.

In article <MOLri.24262$GO6.6220@xxxxxxxxxxxx>, epg3 says...

FWIW that distributor can step into a time machine and update that
machine with
the last release of software and it isn't going to fix the flipper
problem. I
would have (personally) requested that they fix that before worrying
about the
software revision. But them I'm really into flipping the ball around I
guess...

Also, distributors already *love* home collectors coming in to play
their games,
tell them their business, and never buy anything from them. So unless
you don't
enjoy the privilege of playing the latest games you might consider that
in your
future visits. :-)

The right flippers were inop :(

I asked the service guy what version software it was running and he
looked
at me like I was crazy. I am going to try and go play it tomorrow so I
asked
the service guy to update it to the latest software so I can get the
full
effect.

Then he tells me.... He can't update the software because it's against
Stern's policy! So I called bull*** right there on the spot...LOL He
was
not too happy.
