Re: OT: Kinda prying here, but what does everyone do for a living?

For example I know
you're going to learn how to fix your own pins just fine from now on.

Going back and forth like this is not going to get us anywhere. It
just goes to show there are people that think the UAW is bad and other
that cherish what we have. I guess we can agree to disagree but to
think that for one moment the UAW is not giving things up you are
mistaken.

Our unions are miles apart but they both stand for one thing. Fair
wage for a days work. I guess the main fact still remains. The
companies i work for are not going bankrupt, closing plants, moving
jobs overseas and buying people out. Not saying the UAW isnt giving up
anything, but how much are you willing to give up ? Enough to keep
your job in Detroit ? Enough to stay competitve with Mexico, China,
India and other countries ?

Also to say that a union so large and represents a large mass of
members in one urban area and dont effect the economy is total bull. I
will not buy this at all. If the company cant compete there, they
will take their business elsewhere, and when that plant closes, what
gets hurt ? To say thats not the unions fault in any way shape or form
is not correct. Anytown USA where a big plant closes, not only do the
workers suffer, the small business owner's in that town/area suffer
with the loss of business. Also lost are citys tax revenue, paid by
both parties. Just the tip of the iceburg, but i think you know where
i am coming from.

Sorry i offended UAW workers, enough union rant on rgp for me. To the
original poster, good luck with your job.
