Since you have a logic probe, you don't need much else.

Setup the machine for display test without the bad segments lit by the
CPU. Hopefully, they are flickering due to your problem. Then with
the schematic, find the input of the driver that powers the bad
segment and see if that is enabled. If it is not, the display driver
chip is bad.
