The BIG problem, I'm in Miami, and can't seem to find any dealers down

Well, 1st thing, forget about dealers. They almost always overcharge.
Ebay can be ok, but there are a lot of scammers and flat out liars, I
don't recommend buying on ebay if you don't know the seller, or if you
can't drive out and see the game before buying.

RGP is a great place to find deals, and most people are very helpful.
You can sometimes get good deals at auctions as well.

Now, if you don't know what game you want yet, the best thing to do is
get out and play as many as you can. I'm sure you can find some local
people who'd be more than happy to show off their toys. If you can't
try a game in person, the next best thing is an emulator, with Pinmame
you can try out all kinds of tables on your computer, it's not quite
the same, but better than nothing. http://pinmame.retrogames.com/

Get ready to spend a lot of time on this site, http://www.marvin3m.com/fix.htm.
It will become your bible. Most of what you need to know about fixing
pins can be found there.

Another good site is http://ipdb.org/, you can look up almost every
game ever made and see photos. Also tells you who worked on the
tables, special features and number of tables made.

But most important is google. Goole has archives of this group going
back to the stone age, so before you ask a question google it, chances
are it's been asked before.

Get to know your fellow RGPers, most of them are good folk. And they
will help whenever they can. When you get ready to buy, try to find
someone to go with you. There are so many pitfalls of pin buying that
no matter how much you prepare, there is something you'll miss.
Chances are you will get burned a little on your first game, most of
us did. Before buying i always google through the archives to see what
past prices have been, it helps.

Somebody once told me "The only guarantee you'll ever get buying a pin
is that there WILL be something wrong with it."

I warn you, once you get one, you'll want another, and they will take
over your house. It's an addiction, be warned!
