what exactly makes coil strength besides ohms? wire gauge?
thanks-
Coil Strength (magnetic strength) is a function of the coil's
inductance and the primary current surge.
A coil's inductance is determined by the inside diameter of the coil,
the number of turns and the length of the coil.
The primary current surge will be determined by wire gauge and voltage
difference applied to the coil.
In the case of the two coils you referenced the SG 23-750 DC is a
larger gauge wire and has 150 less turns than the AE 24-900. Because
the inside diameter and length are identical, the two coil's
inductances should be relatively close. With less turns, a larger wire
gauge and lower DC resistance, the SG 23-750 will have a greater
current inrush. Or simply put, More current = More oomph.
