Re: Quickie Eprom question... Scared stiff / all games in general

What's your website John? My SS does have a slight "crackle" sound to
it when Elvira speaks... I thought this was a capacitor problem. Does
the updated sound chip set up fix that? I wouldn't call it a buzz,
just a slight distortion during speech. It is very noticeable though.

Thanks John!

OK, I just noticed my Scared Stiff has a rev. 1.4 chip in it... I was
going to upgrade to the latest and greatest version of the software
from Marco (don't have a programmer) and was curious if when you
upgrade the game Eprom, do you also need to upgrade the sound chip
stuff too? That would apply to any game of course.

What prompted this was I noticed when in "Terror From the Crate",
every once in a while it seems to think a ball has drained and locks
the crate back up when you still have multiball going. I'm not even
sure if the updated Eproms fix this...

Any insight on this one?

Thanks!

Most games don't have sound updates released for them.

SS had a sound update, rev 1.1 - to fix a buzzing problem some
machines had. Doesn't add any sounds. Most of the folks who get their
chips from me don't request the 1.1 on SS though, so you should be OK
without it unless your machine is buzzing badly.

Here are the changes from CPU ROM 1.4 to 1.5:

settable delays.
Fixed bad switch logic on Leaper targets.
Fixed broken spider logic.
