Re: Problems with entering in high score initials on Demolition Man

I think Lloyd is on to something here. IIRC you can select your
initial's letters using the index finger trigger buttons on the
handles as with the flipper buttons, and then press the thumb button
on one or the other handle to enter that letter as with the start
button. If one of the thumb buttons is stuck closed, it may inhibit
the enter mode. I believe the right thumb button is in parallel with
the ball plunger/launch button, so since you apparently can start and
play a game, I would suspect the left thumb button if this therory
holds true. I will try to verify when I get home later tonight, but in
the mean time do verify switch status/function in the test menu. When
I first got my DM, some clever soul had superglued the buttons on the
handles for kicks, oh joy!

Go into switch edge test, and see just what the start button ( miro switch )
is doing. Of course you can start a game, so that should be working anyway.
While in switch edge test verify the buttons and triggers on the handles are
working too, just to be sure you don't have a switch stuck closed.

Next up I'd do a factory reset to clear any garbage out of memory ( you will
lose scores, audits, custom settings ) LTG :)

I just recently encountered this problem with my Demoliton Man Pinball
Machine too! I recently pulled this pin out of storage from a few
years and set it up. The same exact problem: I got a high score,
when I went through the steps to enter my initials, I could not lock
in all three letters. I could scroll through the letters using the
flipper buttons, but when I went to enter a letter using the start
key, nothing happened. I also tried using all of the other buttons
(launch, extra ball buy in, flipper buttons) none of these locked in
the initials either. Eventually, the machine timed out and locked in
the first initial that I positioned with my flipper buttons, and it
now shows up with only my first initial in the high scores. I then
opened up the machine to look at the start switch - nothing apparently
wrong there. Looks like a brand new switch. Wires were firmly
attached. I checked the edge connectors (pulled out the plugs, put
them back in, etc.) This did not fix the problem (I was on a roll the
other evening - it is sooooo easy to get a high score on Demo Man!).
Can anyone help me with this bug? Never encountered this problem
before on any of my pins. Thanks!- Hide quoted text -
