You're absolutely right about the acetic acid, I had forgotten
about that aspect of the silicone. I do think it would corrode traces,
as copper is very reactive with even a mild acid.
Are there any products without an acid component to them ?
On coils, there would seem to be less need to worry. The paper
wrapper would protect some & the windings are not critical as far as
corrosion goes, so unless one goes crazy with the stuff, probably no
harm there.
