Re: STERN PINBALL and METALLICA

Anybody that thinks Metallica is a small market is nuts. Plain and
simple... They were not an 80's band. They hated the 80's big hair
bands. They are the Led Zepplin or Rolling Stones of their generation.
Are they my favorite band? No. Are they the most logical band for a
new pin? Yep. Right on the money. They've been around more than 20
years, and even their bad albums go platinum. I've seen them 5 times
live in venues ranging from 10,000 seats to 45,000, all with one
common factor... they were all sold out shows. While they may be hit
and miss at times, they do what they want, don't conform to anybody
but themselves, and always come out in OK shape. That is what rock
music has been about since day one. I'm sure when the Guns N Roses pin
came out, there were a ton of people saying they sucked and were too
new to support a pin theme, but that game is still a big draw.

Personally, I'd love to see that Beatles pin that John Trudeau wanted
to make get done. Tons of toys and gimmics to go along with that one,
but I have to imagine the royalties would kill that idea in a hurry.

Rob Zombie would make a better pin, just because the theme would be
insanely cool with his horror themed music and movie tie-ins, and I
know he'd help with the artwork for probably a free pin. He's a pin
collector as well, but his market would be pretty small compared to
others. Ozzy, AC / DC, or Aerosmith would be the only other options.
Their fan base runs from folks in their 50's and 60's to teens. Can't
get much broader than that.

Just my opinion, your fuel economy may vary.

Stern advertising needs as much help as they can as they don't do
enough as it is. I know I am a mere small sliver in a vast void.

I just received a request from Metallica themselves to add them to
Stern Pinball. I thought cool, with over 542,000 friends they found
STERN !

I help people and answer questions as best I can, otherwise I send
them a link to Stern's site. It's been working well. I get paid
nothing and am happy to help. I received blessings from a few
designers and no ill will from Stern at all.

Now my reason for this post is who here would love to see a Metallica
pin ? Metallica are a strong viable license and would be great.
With the strong demand for Kiss, Rolling Stones and GnR pins what a
great idea. I think AC/DC or Metallica would be a good choice
possibly Ozzy or Zombie as well. I would like to see Stern follow
suit in the GnR tradition of a new rock n roll pin. Great home theme
and public bar/pub/arcade awareness

Thoughts ....
Jason.
