I finally got my first pin in 1993, A Gottlieb Aquarius. It was for sale,
just a few miles from me. The guy also had a Chicago Coin Gunsmoke, but I
passed because I thought it was too noisy. This was pre internet. It was
just the coin door coil, which easily be disconnected. It was a nice one
too. The guy also offered me a non working ALI out of his storage unit for
like $75 he got from an auction. Again, no internet resources to fix it back
then, so it was a no go for me. Also, I was living in a mobile home at the
time, so my one game stayed at my parent's house. Those mobile home floors,
walk too hard on them, and they collapse.
When I got my "project" house, I started going to auctions and bidding on
antique phonographs and other oddities, but this was during a strong
economy, so not only did you have these high dollar housewives bidding
against you, but it was also these clowns that owned the item too, AND some
guy who had a booth at a flea market who wanted the item. Now hand cranked
phonographs are a dime a dozen and many flea markets have shut down,
regrettably. The one that had the dealer that was bidding against me, it
shut down one day and I was pissed. I bought many records from there.
Anyway, the story goes the owner kept the money he was supposed to pay rent
with and skipped town. Sucks!
So, I started going to shows and meeting with collectors here and there.
Now I own a minivan, so no van rental fees. So, you never know what I will
turn up. The other day I found a Harley Davidson stock exhaust system lying
by the curb for the trash man. I rang the doorbell, asked if I could take
it and the lady said sure. Lady said it was fine, but stock and her husband
wanted better. I still have this if somebody wants to make an offer and come
and get it. I was thinking of Ebaying it, but prefer not to. It's a big
piece of shiny metal and kinda heavy.
To make a long story short, I always have no less than 25 pins, a Turbo
cabaret vid, a Tron, Stargate, and Ms. Pacman vid, a Seeburg USC-1 juke that
I got from york in 2003 I think for like $300 (http://www.theyorkshow.com) a
Speedway racing game from Sledworks (http://www.pingeek.com, click to the
bottom and click on Jimmy Rosen's face to see the tour of Sled works,
including a pic of my Speedway on location there. I also have various odd
coin op oddities, like a coin op dice game I bought from Wayne, NJ for like
$200. I love these! They take NO space and they are oh so cool:) I was
amazed nobody grabbed this at the show. The Wayne show was just filled with
odd goodies. I need to bring a box truck next year.
Regrettably, I just threw on Ebay my Harlem Globetrotters day one mylar pin
on Ebay, the nicest game I have ever owned, and i am really picky about
condition of a game. I play these all the time at shows, and had some
decisions to make, and out the door it goes.

I didn't even own it that long. Played it maybe 50 times. If you live in
the VA area or nearby come on by and play it, while it's still here.
I will have more pins for sale on Epay very soon. Lots of pin and vid parts
too!
