Ok,
I attached the wire to the bare lug and no luck. Looking at the switch
matrix I see that both lane changers (R & L) have a green/gray. So I
ran a jumper wire from the left lane change switch to the right and it
worked (because it looked as if the right flipper had something
soldered to it at one time, not the blades with the diode). However,
the game was doing some weird stuff so I shut it down and removed the
jumper wire. Now I am back to where I started. I don't think I fried
the board because everything works except the lane change.
Thanks for all of your help, it is much appreciated

Look at the page in the manual that has the switch matrix chart on it -
you should see a row or column that says green/gray for the color....
or look in the chart itself for the "lane change" switch (might say
left or right, also) - that box, from that box, follow up and follow
left to see the row/column wires.
OK I downloaded the manual and am looking at the back inside cover
switch matrix chart. The 2 wires you should have on the outermost
switch on the left flipper are in fact, white-brown (which sounds like
it might still be attached) and the hanging green-gray one. There
should be 3 lugs on that switch - one bare one and 2 with a diode on
it. You have to reattach that wire to one of those lugs. If you're
lucky it's broken off the bare one..... so if you have a lug with
nothing on it (ie. no diode leads!) that's the lug it goes on. If it's
the lug where a diode is, usually the diode lead goes to one of the
actual switch blades, and the wire goes to the lug that isn't connected
to any blade at all.
