Re: FA: Pinball Parts and Electronic Components (ICs, Rectifiers, Transistors)

Not to mention Frank is one of the good guys on RGP, and honestly
represents what he sells.

As a seller myself I understand the cost of shipping and some of the
fine upstanding individuals who claim they never got their item. The
moral here is don't buy a quantity of 4 posts if you can help it. Save
your order until the cost justifies the purchase.

Keep in mind the listing costs 35 to 70 cents normally. This is with
no special features other than gallery. So the seller is automatically
out 70 cents. I specify if someone wants cheaper shipping it's at
their own risk. I try to accomodate.

There are also times I've paid for priority $6 and got a first class
package that cost the shipper $1.70. That's dirty. If you paid "flat
rate" then there is no argument.

Sum it up. 4 posts can't be needed that badly to pay that much
shipping. If that's the case you can temporarily do something else.
Get creative and go down to your local hardware store. You'll be amazed
at what you will find there that will work in a pinch.

There is one other avenue that you may not of thought of. Post here
that you need a few posts, tell the story, and you'll be amazed at who
would offer to just throw a few posts in the mail and send them. You
can only go to this well so often before you are branded a cheapskate
and ignored, but the guys here do like to help, if reasonable.

Otherwise pay the extra money and cherish those posts!

Apparently you haven't shipped anything via USPS Priority lately. Even the
smallest package (less than 1 lb) plus insurance up to $50 is $5.40, and
while the boxes are free you have the costs of plastic bubble wrap and tape
as well as my time and fuel going to the post office. $7 is right on
target,

I thought this too, and I've been on your end also. I charge flat rate
$9.99 shipping and signature confirmation (been burned too many times
on people claiming to not get their parts). I use the flat rate so I'm
not surprised by costs, and neither is the buyer. Of course, I'm
usually selling rather heavy items that would cost much more at regular
rate vs. flat rate.

I also offer refund of shipping if it ends up being >$1 over the actual
cost. Maybe first class with delivery confirmation would work out for
the smaller items - some retailers use that instead.

I wouldn't overly worry about the bidding from alive-cds sounds like he
just has an axe to grind today.
