Hey cAyle,
You are correct, the top scores from all of your entries per machine
are entered into the system. Not sure if you are familiar with Expo,
but pretty much your highest score is kept. If you only entered once
in this IFPA tournament (3 games), the max amount of points you could
attain would be 30 if you played three different games. Some people
have the strategy of buying an entry and playing those 3 games on the
same machine to get as high of a score as possible. Then on their next
entry, play the next game 3 times. It's not like PAPA where you need a
consistent run across all the games, more of a free for all in terms of
trying to put up really good scores all over the place at your leisure.
Hopefully that answers your question, if not I'm sure Josh can chime
in and explain it better.

Can you explain the point rules for the tournamnet a bit more? Are all
the top scores from all of your entries combined into one three game
sum? Also, if you only play 3 games on an entry how can you get 50
points? (by playing other entries on other games?)
Thanks ,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the AMOA and IFPA are teaming up
to run the 1st annual AMOA International Expo Pinball Championships.
This will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center from September 27-29th
during show hours.
For those that pre-register for the tournament, I believe the AMOA is
giving free passes for the Expo show. This is one of the biggest
coin-op industry shows of the year, and features companies showing off
all their newest products. This includes Stern which usually brings
their newest model along with any other games they plan on re-running.
Definitely a blast if you like pinball/video games. Pre-registration
should be available through the AMOA website and I will let everyone
know when that is available. Feel free to email me directly to
pre-register as well.
Tournament format will be similar to Pinball Fantasy held earlier this
year. One game from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's will be used
for tournament play. Entry tickets are 3 games for $10. 1st place on
any game awards 10 points down to 1 point for the 10th best score (for
a maximum of 50 points per player). Top 7 players will qualify for the
finals to be held on Friday morning. Top qualifier will get a bye into
the semifinals. Finals will be best 2 out of 3 single elimination.
Along with plaques and prizes donated by Stern pinball, the top 3
finishers will receive a minimum of $500, $250 and $100 respectively.
The top 4 finishers will receive 25, 15, 10 and 5 WPPR points
respectively with the other 3 qualifiers receiving 1 WPPR point.
Any questions, please drop me an email. We're still in the process of
finishing up all the details, but wanted to make everyone aware of the
tournament since it's a little over a month away.
thanks,
Josh Sharpe
