Re: RFM Short Circuit problem

You are going to need someone that can do good board work. You shot high
power back through your light line and surely did some board damage.

The bulb that was getting broken, you could slide thick clear rubber tubing
over it, cut it to length so it covers the bulb and goes into the playfield
hole the bulb sticks through. LTG :)

Ok I guess I should start by saying that I'm pretty much a newb when it
comes to electrical stuff. I don't really understand voltages and
amperage and what not so I may be in over my head, about the only thing
I can figure out with a multimeter is that when I touch 2 points in a
wiring loom that are supposed to be connected and the numbers change on
the display that means there is continuity between the 2 points, so I
may be out of my league in trying to fix this problem but figured I
would ask here.

Little bit of background on the problem: The problem is on row 6a, I
was having a problem with lamp 76a always getting broken, so I decided
to take it out from the top of the playfield and allow it to dangle
under the playfield, big mistake on my part. When dangling free the
lamp lead rested against a lead from one of the pop bumper coils and
such fried the lamp socket and the diode. So now row 6a is showing as
shorted, I figure I would just replace the lamp socket and the diode
and everything would be fine. So I grab a replacement lamp socket from
my Addams family as I know the socket is good and replace the lamp.
But the row still shows as shorted. I've taken my multimeter and gone
through the entire row of lamps to check for broken connections or a
path where I was unable to get continuity between the lamps. I wasn't
able to find any. On the power driver board, I checked the Tip102 to
see if the tip had been blown. I checked for continuity between the
TIP102 leads and there was continuity. So then I placed one of the
probes from my multimeter on the tip102 and placed the other probe on
the first lamp in the Row of 6a, lamp 16a and I got continuity between
the tip102 and the lamp.

Question: So at this point I am lost, I'm not sure what else to check
or what else could be wrong. So I figured I would pose the question
here as I am clueless as to what I can do to fix the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help somone would be willing to offer.
