Re: IJ Chip Bad?

Power off, pull the plug. Then power up , if error goes away not a cpu
problem, if error remains then you have a cpu problem. LTG :)

Hello,

I have not had to work on a pinball machine in some time and I wanted a
little feedback on an issue I had with the switch matrix on IJ. I get
that
"GND SHORT ROW 1 IS STUCK CLOSED" error. No fuses are blown. The switches
on the coin door will not work (which are not part of Row 1), so I can't
go
into test mode. Row 1 is on J109. The questions is this: If I pull the
J109 plug at the CPU and still get the error, am I correct in assuming
that
the wiring can't be the problem? I am thinking U18 is the case (U18 being
the chip controlling Row 1). I don't see on my switch matrix list which
Row
the test buttons are on (?). Also, some coils seem to be randomly going
off
(I assume the game is seeing the switches as closed). The coils seem to be
IR switch related, but I am not sure they all are.

If anyone has suggestion or advise, please let me know.

Thanks,

Matt Davis
