Thanks for all the advice. I Like Eric's. I'm almost up to step 3.
Actually, This stuff is coming off very easily. The topside of the pf
is cleaning up with super clean and Novus2. Eventually I'll use a
mold killer on it befor waxing. As far as the rest, I've found
something called Jomax. It mixes with bleach and water. Spray it on
and wait 5 mins, then rinse off. Seems to be working. The inside of
the cabinet is almost fully cleaned out after one application.

This stuff is also really strange...It hasn't touched any of the wiring
insulation, metals, plastics or glass.

I'll keep the group updated.

I have done a couple of restorations where mold was involved, but
nothing quite as extensive as your situation. Before you even start,
you will have to strip everything from the cabinet, head, and the top
and bottom of the playfield. I use a 50/50 mix of bleach and water in
a small spray bottle. It's best to work in an area where there is a
lot of sunlight. Spray the mix onto the area. Be certain to saturate
the spores. Take a toothbrush or a scrub brush, depending on the size
of the affected area, and start scrubbing until you see wood, artwork,
paint, etc. Then, wipe the area with a paper towel, or a rag that you
don't intend to reuse. Make sure that you spray every nook and cranny,
or the mold could possible return. Keep treating the areas until they
are absolutely clean. This process has worked great for me, and the
mold has never come back.

When you're doing this, wear old clothes that you don't care if you
have to throw out, a decent respirator, and gloves. Try to keep the
least amount of skin exposed when treating. If you have any kind of
allergies, I wouldn't even begin to attempt this.

The only thing that would keep me from trying to restore the game that
you have is that it's an EM. Not because I don't like EM's, but there
are a lot more assemblies that need to be removed when doing an EM
versus an SS. Also, there is a lot of cloth insulated wiring in an EM.
If the harnesses are covered in mold, I wouldn't even attempt to treat
the game. It would take a lot of effort to remove the mold from the
wiring, and even if you are successful in getting rid of it, the bleach
mixture may oxidize it over time. One last thing, be prepared to
replace a lot of light sockets, possibly switch blades and stacks, and
reglue inserts due to the moist environment the game has been sitting
in.

Here's a link to a Meteor that I finished not too long ago
http://www.papinball.com/meteor/before/index.html. This will give you
an idea of how much mold was involved. If I didn't love the game so
much, I would have cut my losses, and parted it out.

Good luck!

First, I have to thank Vic Camp for donating this one to the cause.
He found the game and could very well have kept it himself to part out
or clean up and fix.

He is truly dedicated to the hobby.

It's hard to describe the condition of this machine except BROWN!!! It
has mold on every inch of wood, even under the posts! I'm pretty sure
it has mold on the mold!

The good news is that after about 3 hours trying to pry, cut and drill
the lockdown bar off (the locking mechanism was broken) I was able to
start cleaning the playfield and it looks great. Colors are vibrant
and the paint is thick. Just worn in one spot.

If anyone is interested, Here is a link to some pictures.

Also, Has anyone come across a game in similar condition? If so,
any advice on how best to clean the mold?
