It is DRA - I think the guy uses a 1906 typewriter to do it
too....years ago it had a value, today the better place is eBay
Completed Auction results for a certain item.
Condition of any route trades is very subjective. In some areas
operators eBay their own equipment. Certainly an item is only worth
what a buyer is willing to pay for it.
If I have a need for an item I'll pay more - (duh, ok) and seeing an
item before agreeing to a trade price is important too. Ops want the
best deal which is human nature and good business - we are fair and
pretty liberal on trade values assuming the best case.
Sometimes a customer wishing to trade wants more than we can pay or
cites "the book says X" I politely say - well maybe the book will pay
you that but I cannot - a real distributor must give almost any trade a
lot of time and attention and a warranty to make a sale of that
equipment. In short, we need to make a profit -
Today many distribs will call or e mail each other to see what they are
giving for X item in a certain part of the country at any given time of
the year.....supply and demand - in season and out of season, location
of the item, it's history, pending deal and obviously, condition
determine the trade value......hope that helps a bit.......Jack
