Still no word on the software update from Stern for WPT.

Unfortunately, when people demonsrtate they are prepared to buy buggy
products at launch, and then wait for fixes which have no deadline, it
removes some of the incentive for companies to ensure products are
working properly from the outset.

Oh yeah, I guess everyone should not buy any more Stern machines and wait for Wayne-o to release his Crock Hunter machine which, of course, will be completly free of ANY errors.

I just love people that bash something like its so damn simple but honestly have no clue of what they speak. Software debugging is a total PITA. First, you have to FIND the bug, then be able to replicate it the EXACT same way EVERY TIME. Then, and ONLY THEN, will you be able to figure out what is causing it and can fix it. UNTIL that occurs there is no one that can fix it. You won't know what is causing the issue! You can't fix something when you don't know what exactly is broke. Sure, you can see some of the results of the problem but unless you can tie them all to an event or set of events, you can't fix it.

I'm sure when the bugs are found on WPT (and any future machines) the fixed code will be released. As someone that has beta tested computer software before, I've seen this time and again. Especially the "when you going to fix this?" question. My fave answer has always been "when its fixed, and no, we don't know when it will be fixed". People don't like that answer but giving exact timetables on bugfixes is simply not going to happen. You also can't set deadlines, that just leads to rushing to fix the bug which just results in introducing a whole new set of bugs.
