Re: Capcom Transformer needed - Pinball Magic

Yes,
Wiring the transformer right is a good start to sucess!

I used the diagram in the Pinball Magic manual. Page 186 of the manual.
Black wire is in the #1 position, white wire is located in the #7
position. Jumpers (2) are placed in 2 & 3, and 8&9. My only concern on
this is the fact that the manual also states that the transformer
should be ordered with a note of the planned country of usage, This
might be so that they could configure the input plug.
Please remember that the output cables were disconnected before the
large spark. Meaning that anything downstream of the transformer (power
board) were isolated from the power. The ground is attached to the base
of the transformer so I'm assuming here that the transformer should
work.

Am I missing anything else?

By the way, the measured voltage is 123 volts at the input connector.

One other thing, I was thinking about what Lloyd had said about the
wiring, I knew that I had followed the correct conversion way, however
I didn't do anything to the male end of the input plug.

I just looked and see that the diagram in the manual lists pin 9 as
being orange, mine is brown. The manual lists pin 6 as brown and mine
is orange!

I havn't made the change yet. I want to make sure that I don't blow the
thing up!!

Any Pinball Magic owners out there care to verify the pin 6 & 9 on
their transformer for me?? Please.....

Thanks for all of your help.

And thanks to Lloyd for making me think a little out of the box!

Bob

Thanks,
Bob

It is quite hard to mess up a pinball transformer. And if you do, there
should be smoke.

Try disconnecting the pinball electrnics side, and replace the fuse if
necessary. Then try again, if the fuse doesn't blow you nmaybe OK.

Not sure about spares - Capcom parts appear to have all been absorbed
into the BBB project.

If you can post the Capcom pinout, we could look at it.

Group,
Looks like I need a new transformer for my Pinball Magic. There was a
Large spark when I tried to connect the input connector to the
transformer. In all of my years, this will be the first transformer
that I had to replace.

So,
Looking to purchase a Capcom transformer. New or used, just has to
work!

Does anyone out there know if a Williams transformer would work? I know
that the connectors are different, but that's what nice about molex
connectors!

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Bob Whitley
