[TECH] Bally transformer power supply help needed

Hi all. I'm in the process of getting a Mr & Mrs Pac-Man running again.
I'm
getting 7 blinks, and into attract mode, but the game is very flaky,
coils
are not working right, eventually it locks up.
Starting from the start, power, it looks like I am having some
problems.
Transformer is E-122-125
Power supply board is AS-2518-54
With all the outputs from the power boards unplugged (J1-J4),
TP1,2,4,&5 are
all within spec.
TP3 is supposed to be 11.9VDC (UNREG +5V)
I am reading 37VDC on it!
I am not sure how to read AC, but testing from GND to the lines from
the
transformer is how I did it.
The blue wires, J6-3 and J6-6 feed the circuit. They are supposed to be
14.2VAC, but I am reading ~40VAC. The other J6 feeds (9.4VAC and
8.2VAC) are
within spec.
If I am reading this right, the transformer is bad, but I am not sure
if I
am reading it right!
Jumping to conclusions, I would assume the 5V regulator is overheating.
Of
course, the acid damage on the MPU doesn't help.
So, does anyone have advice? Used transformers? Can I just run the 5V
or 12V
from a switching power supply to this line?
Thanks
Sam Zehr
