You probably have a broken wire. I'm guessing as the wiring harness moves
it touches intermittently. Ohm out the wire with an ohm meter while the
lights are dark and see if its connected. It could also be a bad connection
somewhere probably the cable where it connects. Intermittent like this as a
rule is check connections or broken wire . . .
Good luck !

The lamps of my MMs right outlane, right inlane, and extra ball, all
went dark at once.
The fuses are all ok. The manual tells me that those lamps are all on
the yellow-violet wire.
I checked the wire, and the lamp sockets. Nothing obviously wrong. I
changed the bulbs. Wiggled them and the sockets. Couldn't get them
to come on again.
So I raised the playfield. And as I raised the playfield, the lights
came on. But once I got the playfield fully vertical, they went off
again. As I lowered the playfield, the lights came on. But when I
got it fully horizontal (in playing position), the lights went off
again.
I repeated this ten times. It didn't happen every time, but it did
happen 5 or so times during the raise/lower process.
Now, what kind of fault can cause bulbs to come on when the playfield
is at a 45 degree angle, but not horizontal or vertical...?!
(Argh! I want to spend my evenings PLAYING pinball, not FIXING
pinball machines!)
