Re: Classic Stern Flipper Parts for rebuild

You might want to consider a retro-fit of the flippers with modern Bally/Wms
units. We did this on a Meteor pin we restored and it went very nicely, and
made for much easier-to-maintain and repair flippers. We've even had to
make some of our own parts for the old Stern flipper units from time to
time- very hard to find stuff for these games that have been out of
production since 1985.

We have some info on the above on our website at: www.actionpinball.com in
the Technical Articles section.

New complete flipper assemblies are available through vendors like
Competitive Products- easily get all the parts in one shot.

Hope that helps!

I just recently bought a 1980 Stern "Star Gazer" and the flippers could
use a rebuild. The right flipper defintely has a few home-made parts
in there (i.e. a piece of cardboard for a flipper stop), so I'd like to
rebuild at least one, if not both, flippers on the game. The problem
is that PBR no longer has these parts in inventory. Just got off the
phone with Steve at PBR and he said he used to have big bins of these
parts, but they're all gone now. Can anyone out there help me out? Do
any other "regular" parts sellers carry these? Any private collectors
out there with spares that you'd be willing to sell? At the bare
minimum, I am looking for a single flipper stop and a flipper link.
Would love to completely rebuild both flippers, but I'm hoping I can at
least find those 2 parts.

Thanks very much. Your help would be most appreciated. This is a
great game but I'm sure it will play even better with properly working
flippers.
