Re: TR and Thank you to some great Texas Collectors!

I guess that explains why you didn't have time for me on Saturday, Mike.
Glad you had fun regardless.

I meant to post sooner after I arrived home but when I got home I had
to replace my leaking four-year-old water heater. Isn't the American
dream
great...gotta love home ownership J/K.

We flew out Friday and I met up with Bill Morrison on Saturday at
his
house to talk and play some of his collection. Wow and talk about a great
collection that Bill and his wife Jen have. Found a love for the spinners
on these 80's titles. Bill has to many games to list! I must say that
his
games were very clean and played fantastic. Thanks Bill for opening up
your
home and your awesome collection to an out of Towner like myself. I
enjoyed
talking to you about pinball and hope to continue the conversations.
Thanks
Jen for letting me beat you on the final game on the shuffle bowler. Next
time you will have to play your hardest :) Bill thanks for that awesome
Texas big and juicy steak. Doesn't get much better then that.

After Bill's place we headed up to Don Merki's house. Talk about a
great clean 90's collection. Again Don has to many games to list. I
especially enjoyed the Pinball Magic, as I haven't had a chance to play
one
before. Great game and has tons of cool effects. Finally had the chance
to
play Nascar. I must say that I think Stern did a great thing with the
flipper protectors. I didn't find these to be an atrocity like a lot of
reports on here. They were clean looking IMO and didn't cover that much
area to become a nuisance...I say fantastic job Stern. The "I can't drive
55" song wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Not the best job
but not as bad as I was lead to believe. I liked the game but found it a
bit on the easy side. Don your collection is out of site and I had a
blast
playing your games. Thank you and your wife Lesley for opening up your
home
to me. I also enjoyed our conversation on the telephone about Pins and
hope
to have more talks with you. Greg Netardus stopped by and through some
conversation had invited us over to his place.

Wow three collections in one day! Greg thanks for the invite and
opening up your house to us. Please thank your wife for me also. Greg
had
a very nice collection that not only dabbled in pinball but other
nostalgia
items as well. Loved the shooter and your Bonebusters pin. Never thought
I
would like a pink pinball so much :) Loved the heckling skeleton.

On Monday I drove down to Nicklerama to play some games but let me say
that location games like these are the detriment to pinball. They had
good
titles but they were in pretty bad condition as far as functionality. All
7-8 games were out of level. 3 played fairly well L*TR, M*NSTER B*SH, and
AF*M but the others were not that fun. Had a Nascar that would tilt just
to
tilt LOL. The others I don't think had a tilt bob as I could have picked
up
the game and thrown it and it would still have let me played the ball.
Probably the reason that the functionality was so sub par.

I had a pretty full day on Saturday as you can see and my only
regret
was not having enough time to thoroughly enjoy all of these fantastic
collections. With the shear size of these three collections I could have
spent weeks playing and years talking about pinball. Texas definitely has
some great collectors and I feel I probably only scratched the surface of
them.
