Re: New Pinball Forum

There are not that many news providers in Germany. individual.de is
imho the only one with reasonable fees.

Is there anything to prevent you from using a news provider outside of
Germany?

Yes, my laziness for really really looking around elsewere:) I can live with the
current solution for now because my mail provider has great filters.

Well, it could go either way. For example, I post all *my* messages
through SBC's news server. But obviously, they have no flippin' idea who
or what thekorn.net is. The reason SBC allows it is because you have to
present an SBC login before you can talk to the news server at all.

So I have my news client configured to use one set of credentials to log
in to the news server, and post with another set. Works GREAT! :)

But it *could* also be that your news server is set up to allow anyone
in, but is actually checking the identity of the poster. In that case
(usually) munging your address will cause the message to bomb when you
hit post.

It specifically checks the header of every message together with the login data. I
haven't found a way around it but I am not that big a hacker when it comes to IP.
This would also be against their usage policy and I want to keep the account (see
the sentence with the word lazyness in it for an explanation<g>).
