OT going Postal ( Trying to answer Ricks post )

OK Group,
my last post for a few weeks,,
Heres my Story,,, Re-tired City Carrier, 45 years old,
My Routes at the Post Office were some of the worse in SC & one of them
still is,
What you see in the mornings waiting for you is about 20 FEET of
letters IF you stand them up Add about 14 feet of magizines,, What you
have to do is "Case" that mail & they want you to be able to do about 4
feet in a hour,,,, What happens is you start racing your-self everyday
( ok I did 4 feet today, I'm going for 5 feet tomorrow ) ,,, Then its 6
feet,, If you skip lunch to make your-self look good ( Or Faster ) then
they expect you to do that everyday ,
I was going in at 6:00 am & was the 1st Carrier at work, & the Last to
leave everyday ,
Throw in some of the 10 mile walking Routes & you'll need help to get
off on time,, Problem is, they have a Over-time desired list w/ NOBODYs
name on it ,, Carriers are suposed to be off by 2:30-3:00,, Hell I
never left the PO until after lunch time,,, So when you see mailmen or
ladys out after 3:00 you know they have a over-loaded route ,,,
The other thing is the Pay,, I started out at $ 19.00 a hour & when I
left it was over 33K a year
These Carriers make more $$ than your everyday Joe,, When a Carrier
gets harrassed to the point of quiting,, they know it will be very hard
to make that kind of $$ just anywhere &
If the harrassement doesnt stop, what you see is what this Lady did,,
They will take that Huge anger out on any & everyone in their path,,
When I left I was being harrassed VERY Much for not being able to talk
on the phone ( They knew I was DEAF when they hired me ) ,, They knew I
had a 12 hour Route & Wouldnt adjust it to the Union standards ( it has
since been made into 4 Routes ), But their B/S story was they wanted me
to be able to call if I needed help on "Any" day & at the same time
they Knew I needed help everyday ( most of the time by 2 Carriers ) &
thats just to be able to get off work by 6:00PM
The Late Strom Thurman from South Carolina ( US Senitor ) Reveiwed my
Case because of a ADA Claim by myself ( Nothing could be done against
the PO ) Even though I had everything in writing from the Station
manager theatening me w/ charges for not talking on the phone,, Postal
Inspectors Grilled me for weeks on end & Guess what ??, No Charges were
filed & the Harrassement didnt Stop.
I told the Postal Inspectors the PO could Pay me to work or I'd file
for Disability & they could pay me to stay at home & I've been doing
this over 10 years & getting 80 % of what I was making ,,, They couldnt
admit they were wrong & to this day they still wont admit it ,
Who-ever that was that said they saw people not working & Goofing off
must have been in the Sorting Dept,, That doesnt happen w/ Carriers (
They only get a 10 minute break every hour ) So if you're wondering if
"I" ever went Postal,,, The answer is YES ( Sorry xlr8 )
But I put 2 Cops in the Hospital along w/ myself & I could have been
charged w/ assault,
I had 2 resisting arrest charges instead,, But it Costed me a HUGE
$$$$$$ figure to settle that mess & not end up in Jail .
So if you think the PO is going to tell you why these things happen,
You can forget that !!!!
They'll Hide behind Govnt, Red Tape til there is no more PO 1st !!!
