Gameplay questions on Pinball Magic (Cliffy?)...

Hi All-
Cliffy maybe you can answer these- I think you have a PM? Or anyone else
that's a PM expert?
I'm working on a Pinball Magic for a local customer here in town who bought
one "as-is". We've fixed a few problems already but neither he or I are
famillar with the gameplay (or Capcom pins in general) and are basically
trying to figure out how it's supposed to work- more or less to just confirm
if it's working right at this point or if we have more problems to work on.
Current problem we're having is trying to get the 4th magician lit- "Mr.
Mystique". We can get the first 3 magicians lit by completing the shots for
those. For the 4th magician, I understand we are supposed to shoot up the
left ramp. I'm inclined to think that this shot should just go up and orbit
around the right and come back to the right inlane, but every time we shoot
it, the diverter kicks in and knocks the ball down to the hand/wand, where
it rolls off (to the right side) and back into play. And we're not awarded
the 4th magician (he keeps on blinking in center of playfield).
So we can't go any farther on the game. The entrance switch to the ramp is
working (makes diverter open up). If I manually activate entrance switch,
then manually activate exit switch (upper right corner on ramp) to simulate
a ball making the complete ramp/orbit shot, it still doesn't award the 4th
magician.
Just wondering if anyone else's works same or differently and/or how it's
supposed to really work.
Also, can anyone describe how/when the wand is supposed to work? Obviously
it can go left to drop a ball in the lock (which it does on occasion) and it
can go right where you can hit the flipper button and drop the ball into one
of the two holes on top of the drop target bank, but we've never got it to
do this.
Thanks for any help!
