Tech: GNR Playfield Magnets

I have googled and found a lot of topics on this subject but nothing
that really gives a good fix. I have a GNR that locks on two magnets
and ends up blowing the fuses in the PPB board. I have replaced the
magnets and have replaced the transistors on the board mounted under
the playfield. Still I cannot determine what is causing this. One
google search suggested mounting the playfield board on the backbox
closed to reduce the length of current travel to the board. Seems like
an awaful lot of work and would this really be the fix. Any help would
be appreciated.
