Before you chuck the coil, have you performed the usual EOS maintenence steps? Also, does the coil sleeve show signs of overheating?
Don't forget to add the EOS cap to lengthen switch life.

Thx everybody. My coils seem to have to right resistance. I did notice that the EOS switch is always open (one of the legs lost it's elasticity). I guess this explains the weak behaviour.
