Well, I for one congratulate Wayne for setting the prices at a more
realistic level. I criticised Wayne recently for prices that I felt
were way over the top and now at least they are more reasonable for us
Aussies. I feel some items are at a fair price now and that a few items
are still a bit too high but now I will certainly look at his site
before making overseas purchases. During my whinge I used the example
of purchasing a TOTAN Lamp from either BAA or Wayne. I could buy it
from BAA for US$45.00 + US$21.00) shipping using Global Express
(approximately AU$90.00 all up). With BAA's rewards scheme and/or a
cheaper shipping option it would actually be a bit less.
Wayne was originally selling the same product for AU$141.90 plus
shipping (probably be around AU$10.00 shipping cost). Now it has been
reduced to AU$99.00 which is much better; however with shipping I would
still be paying about AU$20.00 more so I am still better off getting it
from BAA. I suppose I feel that if I am purchasing a product direct
from the factory I should be able get it for less than from anywhere
else. If that is not possible then I would like to be able to get it
for the same price. I spent just over AU$5000.00 in parts last
financial year so I am no big fish but every cent went overseas which
does annoy me a tad. I would miss dealing with the US though because I
feel that customer service from MOST I have dealt with is bloody
fantastic but if that TOTAN lamp was AU$75.00 Wayne would have me as a
customer, no worries.
