Steve, when cleaning with the wire pin. You have to take off the solder
collection tube, turn the 808 ON, not off, let it heat up and melt the
excess solder trapped in there, and THEN you clean it with a pin wire.
it wil come out. Pin wire is very ineffective when solder builds up and
you try to clean it up sold. You have to turn it on, then clean. Hope
that helps.

To Ken. Glad you like it, 470 is the Top Cat of desoldering stations,
no doubt, and I've owned XYTronics, Weller, Pace and all other stuff -
sold them all.
