Ralf,
Most of the pinball board repair folks should be able to fix this.
I assume the 3-pronged component was a small blue rectangular box?
That is a transformer (T1). Are you sure you friend got the leads
soldered back in the right places? It is a good idea to glue that
component down when it is soldered in. The leads are very small and
break from vibration. Use a glue that can be removed at a later date.
A small dot of RTV will work.
You may want to check the bulb solder again. The solder 'pads' on the
outer legs of the bulb are actually on the opposite side of the board -
meaning you have to flow solder through the board to the other side to
get a good connection.
Note that the strobe will not work with the coin door open...
Below is a link to a troubleshooting guide and schematics that I posted
a long while ago. This is not for beginners. Maybe someone you know
can help you given this guide? Otherwise send the boards out or you
may damage them further.
Download the files to your desktop before opening (that seems to help
on my machine at least)
I have added dialog boxes with descriptions of the circuit. Double
click to read them.

Here is a link to my strobe troubleshooting guide. It includes
voltages to check for on each capacitor. It is long and boring! I
have checked it over carefully, but it may not be perfect. Use at your
own risk.

Good luck! Please don't attempt to fix your own card if you are not
familiar with multimeters or soldering. There is high voltage on these
boards - beware!
