Any chance you've got a cable connector plugged in wrong somewhere? Or not
plugged in? Check all cables and connectors in them, and connectors at each
board. Any cables/wires look like they've been mashed or crushed in backbox
door or under the backbox/hinge, etc?
Have you compared the non-working lamps to the schematics of the lamp board
in the game manual to see what component(s) on the board might be associated
with the non-working lamps? IE: look for common parts that they share to
try and narrow it down.
You may want to pull both switch connectors off the MPU board (both right
side connectors) and then boot up and see if things change. It may be that
you've got a grounded switch column or row wire- I've had grounded switch
lines in these games do some ~weird~ stuff. This would at least eliminate
the switch lines as being possible culprits.
Maybe even disconnect the coin door wiring harness connector (just inside
left of coin door) in case a short on the door is causing problems (lot of
metal on that door).
Maybe check the wires in each of the connectors between MPU J4 and lamp
driver top left connector (J1?) to make sure each one is in the right place
in the connectors. I had a Flight 2000 once that wouldn't boot or speak and
someone had moved 1 wire 1 position over in the J4 connector and that
wreaked all the havoc of a 3-day hair-pulling repair job....
Wow- weird.
