Bob Graham is a great supplier of unshopped machines at reasonable
prices. Where he keeps finding them I don't know, but keep 'em coming
Bob!
Commenting on John D's long and diligent search for his Holy Grail of
machines: It never ceases to amaze me how you can repeatedly see fairly
rare Gottlieb EM games come up on ebay or Mr. Pinball for sale. I've
seen Rock Stars, Lariats, Neptunes, Bristol Hills, even TKO's for
cryin' out loud...and many many others like them for sale, and none of
them had productions over 300 units. I bought some of these names only
because of their low low production, and people who know me well know
that I'm into that sort of thing.
NEVER EVER have I seen a Charlie's Angels EM come up for sale ANYWHERE
in the last 7 years. I did see an EM playfield surface ONCE on ebay. Of
course, just like John, I'd like to get one of these games sometime,
but the chances don't look good. From talking to some of the main
collector crowd about this game, they can come up with *maybe* a
half-dozen names of owners of one and nobody's selling for any price.
Now if they supposedly made 350 of these EM versions like the books all
say, couldn't it be argued that one ought to be coming out of hiding
and up for sale every couple of years or so like all the other rare
ones seem to do? Where the heck are they all? They couldn't ALL have
gone out of the country like some people speculate, and even if most of
them did, I would think it ought to be more likely that they would be
for sale on ebay over there or finding their way back home in
containers full of old games. Something here is not adding up...
I don't think Dayhuff would even bat an eye at the high cost of
shipping if he found a complete one in Europe or South Africa. My guess
is that he'd charter a flight and babysit it all the way home!
