[PBEM News] All Flesh Must be Eaten:: Detour

For the last six hours you?ve been sitting in a cracked and
uncomfortable Naugahyde seat with a spring sticking out of it. If
you shift just exactly right it doesn?t poke you in the ass, but if
you do that then you end up leaning on the funny-looking guy whose
breath smells like garlic and rotten teeth and whose hair smells like
a gas station restroom. Someone across the aisle keeps farting.
Three seats ahead of you some kid is playing rap music REALLY LOUD
and two seats behind you is a 15 year old girl with a baby who hasn?t
stopped crying for the last 83 miles, probably because the stench of
diesel is overpowering and most of the windows are stuck shut. It?s
a warm evening, which makes the fact that you?re sharing your space
with a bunch of sweating, stinking, complaining strangers all that
more of a bitch. And to top it off, there had been some kind of
accident on the freeway about thirty miles back and you were diverted
onto some county two-lane with more pothole than road, which wouldn?t
have been so bad except for the fact that the bus had shocks that
were original equipment in 1954 and you?re feeling the jolt of every
damned pebble shooting right up your spine, slamming vertebra into
vertebra and making agonizing pains shoot down your right leg. You?d
complain to the driver, but the jailhouse tattoo on his right arm and
the mean glint in his eyes makes you think that might not be the
world?s best idea. Yes, this truly is the bus ride from Hell.
And right about now, things are going to get REALLY bad.
The name of the game is ?Detour,? and it?s a survival horror game
featuring lots and lots of zombies. We?ll be using All Flesh Must Be
Eaten ? Revised Edition rules. All characters will be Norms (no
Survivors) who are, for whatever reason, taking a ride on a cut-rate
bus that gets detoured through the wilds of eastern Kentucky right
before all Hell breaks loose. The game is about dealing with and
surviving a zombie outbreak. Since you?ll be playing average people,
you can?t expect to have much success standing and fighting ? this
isn?t that kind of survival game. Instead, you?ll need to use your
wits just to stay alive ? oh yeah, and it wouldn?t hurt to be fleeter
of foot than the slowest person on the bus either.
