[40k] Age of Strife Warhammer World weekend

I'm still recovering from our 3 day gaming stint at Warhammer World this
weekend, but if anyone is interested in what 26 (I think it's 26, but I
might have missed someone) people, most of whom have never met in real life
and most were staying in the same hotel so personality clashes could have
been interesting, all of whom are members of Age of Strife
(http://www.ageofstrife.com), got up to them pop over to the site and check
out the pics and topics. To help out, here are some direct links:

The obligatory group shot (unfortunately killmaimburn and smurfy had already
left when we organised this):

right of the centre looking about 5' tall, I'm not that short - I'm 5' 9" -
I was leaning forward a little to make sure I wasn't in front of Slate,
which after seeing the photo I should have just moved a little to my left
into that gap, oh well)
I haven't posted my pitifully few pics yet (tip: make sure batteries are
charged!), but I will post up a group shot photo with name guide later.
Overall, a great weekend. Luckily the myriad of little problems right before
it all started didn't cause any problems - the custom dice all arrived on
time (just 2 days before we travelled up), forgot to get badge holders (I
ended up stapling mine to my t-shirt), missed turns driving up so arrived at
11:30 instead of 10am to find killmaimburn sat on his own waiting for us. I
met a lot of people I'd only chatted to online, everyone got on with
everyone else, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself despite ending the weekend
with 1 win to 5 losses. And to top it off there was no cheating (well, not
deliberate anyway), and no arguments over RaW/RaI/GaP.
Tim and KInG even managed to give JJ a long list of questions covering the
5th ed rules and current codexes/FAQs, and came away with a single piece of
advice from JJ that makes sense but will infuriate those who insist on a
solid ruleset with no holes - as far as JJ and Alessio are concerned 40k is
a game of fun for the players involved, and his advice to those who need an
answer to every little niggle is to "just say Yes". If your opponent asks
for a game, say yes. If your opponent thinks he should get to do something,
and the rules aren't clear, just say yes. In the end, if you're going to
argue over the rules then why bother playing, as instead of being fun it
becomes tedious. Apparently Alessio played in a 40k tourny recently and used
this advice while playing, and had a lot more fun for doing so. JJ also said
that the reason they don't write the rules to be super rigid and cover every
eventuality is that after running tournaments for so many years they don't
feel they need to - house rules should fix big problems (and at the end of
the day, the GW FAQs are just global house rules), and the rest should just
be agreed while playing and at least it gives the players something to talk
about :)
