Hey,

Shooting Phase = Shoot or Run Away:
Ahh, throw the IG a bone. Or are we adding a feral 'Orcs &
Goblins' army to 40K?
To be fair, it's only an option. And adding options is always good.
ATTENTION GW! L@@K!!!!! ---> Free Development Flowchart:
Does your bright idea add an option to an existing valid list?
Yes - Good boy. Go ahead and paste that puppy in there!
No - Bad monkey! Back in your hole! No bonus for you!
Actually, it removes options - You're sacked. Get a life and die.
Covering Fire:this is down right counter intuitive
I posted @16kb of a 180kb file, so it's rather incomplete.
Plus, the whole thing could even be a hoax, so . . .
WHAT THE
Yeah. Hard to tell if it's the usual contradictory mess.
It could just be the usual proofreading mess . . .
Inscrutable BS6+ Unit rule:Good Lord - what next?
In a perfect world? No Units over BS6.
The new "Relentless" USR:Ok, what besides Termies has this sort of rule
Shapes of Things to Come?
Area Terrain vs Cover rulesThis I don't have a problem with
Wait 'til 5in square AT features sprout up like mushrooms.
Cover Saves are like Invulnerables vs most weapons.
Now, imagine those features occupied by Heavy Weapons Units.
Voluntary Pin, or, "Go To Ground":I can see this as being of marginal value
Another voluntary option. I'll take variety, any day.
Casualties vs Coherency:So, does this mean that special/hvy weapons troopers are once
again vulnerable
Yes. No leading with your face . . .
Units of Multi-Wound models:This seems unchanged from the current rules, or am I missing
something?
FAQ bandage.
Sniper:Is that auto-pin, or are we talking a morale check?
Unresolved FAQ query. The quandary was -
Pin requires an unsaved Wound.
Psi Pinning doesn't cause Wounds.
Are Wounds prerequisite or not?
So, for Autopin, the jury's still out. [shrug]
Poisoned Weapons:Not sure how much this will change things
A Scooby Snack for the Imperial Moral Majority.
Lightning Claw:And this is a huge balance fix by removing one attack potentially?
I think it highlights the idiocy of the next entry nicely.
Power Fist:So, do I still get to choose whether I use the P-Fist or not if I
do take a 2nd non-power fist CCW? There are certainly times where
striking first is better than having S10 and not living long enough to
strike at all.
You can choose not to Shoot when armed with a gun.
So, even if it's not explicitly stated, that seems fine.
Witchblade:How much of a change is
this really?
Another FAQ thing - not listed in the Codex?
Force Weapon:If I have a Carnifex that's assaulted by
a unit of marines with a Librarian, can I dump all my attacks on him
first? Or does he get to use most/all the other marines as ablative
armor before the fex can hit him?
In your I step, and if you're in b2b, yes.
Fallback Units:Oh goody, that'll be great for IG, Orks, etc
To be fair, it'll stop some of the more predictable ploys -
Lashing a sacrificial screen forward is getting boring.
Now, if the Glove bolts, the Fist might break, too.
Time for many to rethink their no-brainer tactics.
FB through enemies or Impassable Terrain:Ok, how can you move through a friendly 'locked' unit (as above)
I assume it means 'draw a FB Corridor through friendly Units'.
Friendly models are Impassable Terrain, afaik.
FB Morale modifiers:Good luck on that one.
Not the first test, of course.
Subsequent tests? Maybe.
'inside AT' - what's 'AT' stand for?
Sorry - Area Terrain.
Fearless CC Losers:does that mean
if I outnumber a fearless opponent by 3:1 I get to inflict 6 extra
wounds (1+2+3)?
Yes.
does this mean if I have a lone Genestealer and a swarm of
termigants in HTH with a Marine Dread (assuming that the dread misses
with its HTH attacks), and the stealer scores a glance, that the gants
get to cause additional glancing hits if they 'out-number' the dread
since they're part of the HTH?
Yes.
Special Characters:What??? I can't have 3 copies of the exact same chapter master
"These 12 plastic skellies are my all-Abaddon 40kA army!"
MCs: As v4 but with the Relentless USR.Does this really help Daemon Princes, etc?
No. It's another FAQ thing -
The Termi entry specified Move and Shoot Heavy Weapons.
It didn't say anything about other sorts . . .
Some pointed out they didn't have armour, either.
All Vehicle weapons measure Range from their Muzzles. What if the gun mount on a model broke and is now glued in place?
Covered:
The following guidelines help in determining how much any type
of weapon should be able to rotate (vertically and horizontally):
* Turret-mounted weapons should rotate
360deg with the entire turret.
* Pintle-mounted (or bolt-mounted) weapons
should rotate 360deg.
* Sponson-mounted weapons vary greatly, as
some can cover the full 180deg of the flank they
are mounted on, while others are more
limited. This is obvious from the shape of the
sponson itself.
* Hull-mounted weapons, can fire in a 45deg arc
from their mounting point.
New Epicoid Vehicle Movement Terms:What, nothing moves 24 inches? What about bikes with Turbo boost?
Turbo isn't a Movement Rate. It's a gimmick.
5 = Destroyed/ Wreck (As v4, passengers disembark, take Pin test)Do 'Exploded' vehicles become terrain and provide cover
6 = Destroyed/ Explode (Crew gone, S3 AP- Hit to models within d6in)
That's Wrecked. Exploders leave DT (Crater).
OT target = +1Now a MC that
gets a penetrating hit has only a 1 in 3 chance of actually destroying a
typical non open-topped vehicle
Those modifiers go toward the VD Table roll.
+1 means Pens are 4+ instead of 5+.
Vehicles Hull-down or Obscured get Cover Saves vs VD.So now, not only are vehicles much better in HTH, but they're
getting cover saves too?
People weren't buying Rhinos?
Melta = 8+d6So, a melta-bomb can't destroy a Land Raider as it can only glance
AV 14 at best?
Right. Land Raiders will need to be removed by other means.
Squadron rulesSo, if a unit's immobilized and it gets left behind it magically
'self-destructs' - that's just plain dumb.
1. Squadrons aren't Immobilised; models are.
2. Units must move at their slowest model's rate.
That second rule Immobilised Squadrons.
Wrecks are just the price for breaking Coherency.
Remember, added options = good.
TransportsBack to the 'Rhino Taxi' concept again are we?
Rebound Love for the brutal Rush overnerf?
Tank Shock: Friendly models are Impassable Terrain.is that one autohit 'per model' making a DoG stand, or one per
unit?
Both. One model per Unit.
Ram (As TS, but always at Maximum Speed):Gee, nearly identical to the Ramming 'House Rules' that Maka and I
came up with in 3rd Ed ages ago
Now you can tell friends that you're a published author . . .
Only Troops Units count as Scoring in 5th ed . . .So, everyone's going to hide all the fragile troops units until
the end of the game
That won't be possible without holding them in Reserve.
More likely, real combined arms tactics will come to the fore. 8- 0
With Troops Units all being MVPs, everyone else is Support.
The way it should be, actually . . .
How are armys without solid transports (like nids,
orks, D.E., etc) supposed to have any scoring units at the end
Don't forget IG . . . :- \
They'll manage the same way everyone else does, I imagine.
What sucks hardest for Nid players is MCs losing Scoring status.
New Dex Orks will do okay, but DE players are hurting.
Deep Strike:wrong with the current DS rules?
FAQ bandage.
Lame new Reserve and Secrecy rules:it was always good sportsmanship to declare which
units went with which transports, and which IC's had joined specific
units *before* rolling for reserves
It's more fun jotting those details on your Roster pre-game.
These units, when available, are randomly Deployed.renders scouts and infiltrators virtually
useless
The developers seem to think they're only Flankers, now.
They had that option before . . .
Secrecy: There is none.I've seen more than a
couple of games end with hard feelings when it became apparent during or
after the game that one of the players had serious errors in their list.
Hard feelings? For a mistake?
I've played math-challenged players and not considered the time
wasted.
My problem is with malice.
It's a game. No more. To me, that means fun and fair play.
If you prove to be playing for other reasons - buh bye.
On the secrecy thing -
I like the surprise and anticipation of Deployments and Reserves.
Exchanging Rosters after the match lets everyone enjoy that.
Note: I don't want others to be forced to play my way.
As it is, it's an option - they're taking away.
