I've heard that prepping gesso is only half done by thinning.
The other half is straining the result through a fine mesh.
Filtering through a nylon stocking removes grit, iirc.
It's still not ideal for airbrushing . . .
I'm fairly certain that there are already air-brush friendly priming
products on the market, which begs the question why anyone would go
through all the effort to begin with just to end up with an inferior
product to what's already commercially available. While I dearly love
Gesso for a variety of tasks, airbrushing it onto things with a good air
brush (other than the kind you'd paint auto bodies with) just isn't one
of those tasks.
