[WFB] Warhammer Armies - Tilea

Okay, this is something of a work-in-progress at the moment, but
mention of the Dogs of War on a couple of threads has spurred me to
come up with a somewhat rough-and-ready attempt at revising the list,
largely so that people can see the direction I'd like the 'Dogs of War'
to go and what they think of it before I flesh it out.

SPECIAL RULES

Dogs of War: This army changes the way the Dogs of War work. Most
importantly, there is no longer such a thing as a Dogs of War army.
Instead, individual army books will detail certain units (such as Ogre
Maneaters or Dwarf Rangers, and all Regiments of Renown) as being Dogs
of War. The Dogs of War entry in army lists allows an army to take any
unit with this special rule in the appropriate army list selection
(usually Rare). If a unit specifies that it uses different selection
rules (for instance, Ogre Maneaters require two Rare slots) then those
rules take precedence. Unless otherwise stated, a Dogs of War unit can
be included in any army able to take Dogs of War, without restriction.
The Tilean army is treated like any other in this regard; many of its
units have the Dogs of War rule, and only these units can be included
in other armies as Dogs of War. A list of the 6th Edition units treated
as having the Dogs of War rule for these purposes is given at the end
of the army list.

Condottieri: The condiotteri are essentially the leaders of mercenary
bands, those who are responsible for negotiating their units' fee and
participation in an army. Condiotteri have +1Ld relative to normal
champions (included in profile and cost), but are confined to mercenary
units - other Tilean units have normal champion characteristics.

LORDS

Mercenary General

Wizard Lord

HEROES

Mercenary Captain: As normal. One may be upgraded to Battle Standard
Bearer for +25pts.

Wizard

0-1 Paymaster 65pts

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Paymaster 4 4 4 4 4 2 4 2 8
Warhorse 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 5

Equipment: Hand weapon, Paymaster's key.

Options: The Paymaster may be given one of the following:
Additional hand weapon +4pts
Morning star +2pts

He may also be given a pistol for +7pts (+14pts for a brace)

The Paymaster may wear light armour at +2pts or heavy armour at
+4pts and may carry a shield at +2pts.

The Paymaster may be mounted on a warhorse for +10pts, which may be
barded for +4pts.

Special Rules

Paymaster: The Paymaster is not a military leader or a tactician and
cannot be the army general.

Paymaster's Key: The Paymaster, as his name implies, holds the key to
the coffers used to pay the army, and invariably keeps the key at his
side partly to prevent the mercenaries from stealing his gold and
partly to give them an incentive to keep him alive. Any unit in the
army with the Dogs of War rule within 12" of the Paymaster is treated
as being Stubborn. However, if the Paymaster is killed all Dogs of War
units in the army suffer -1 Ld for the rest of the game.

Bodyguard: The Paymaster is not a fighter, and often hires the best
bodyguards his money can buy for his personal defence. For this reason
an army containing a Paymaster may include an additional Mercenary
Captain who doesn't take up a Hero slot.

CORE

Provisionati 3pts per model

The Provisionati form the bulk of the state-raised soldiery in Tilean
armies, though they are seen largely as supplemental to the Condottieri
mercenary bands. These citizen militias are often poorly-equipped and
ill-prepared for front-line combat, but they provide a ready source of
cheap manpower.

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Militia 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7
Constable 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 2 7

Unit Size: 10+

Equipment: Hand weapon.

Options: The unit may be equipped with shields at +1pt per model.
The unit may be equipped with additional hand weapons at +2pt per
model.
The unit may be upgraded to Duelists for +2pts per model.
One model may be upgraded to a Constable for +5pts.

Special Rules

Duelists: Duelists gain +1WS and the Skirmish special rule. They may be
equipped with pistols for +4pts per model or throwing knives for +2pts
per model.

Dogs of War: Duelists (but not Provisionati) are Dogs of War.

Pikemen 9pts per model

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Pikeman 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7
Condottieri 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 2 8

One model may be upgraded to a standard bearer for +10pts
One model may be upgraded to a musician for +5pts
The unit may be given a magic standard worth up to 25pts

Special Rules

Dogs of War: Pikemen are highly prized as mercenaries and may therefore
be fielded as Dogs of War.

Crossbowmen

M WS BS S T W I A Ld

Options: One model may be upgraded to a Captain for +7pts
One model may be upgraded to a standard bearer for +10pts

mercenaries in the Old World. They may be fielded as Dogs of War.

Elmeti 23pts per model

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Knight 4 4 3 3 3 1 3 1 7
Captain 4 4 3 3 3 1 3 2 8
Warhorse 8 3 0 3 3 1 3 1 5

Unit Size: 5+

Equipment: Hand weapon, lance, full plate armour and shield.

model.
One model may be upgraded to a Captain for +18pts
One model may be upgraded to a standard bearer for +14pts
One model may be upgraded to a musician for +7pts

Special Rules

Famiglia Ducale: One Elmeti unit in the army may be upgraded to
Famiglia Ducale for +5pts per model. Famiglia Ducale add +1A to their
profile and may be given a magic standard worth up to 50pts; however
they lose the Lanze Spezzate special rule.

Lanze Spezzate: Tilean cavalry units are much in demand as mercenaries,
and many cavalry commanders have taken advantage of this fact to become
freelancers. Elmeti are a Dogs of War unit.

SPECIAL

Stradiots 14pts per model

Though drawn from across the Old World the light cavalrymen employed in
Tilean armies are frequently ill-disciplined, although they are noted
for their ferocity. Armed primarily with close combat weaponry,
throwing spears and other ranged weapons are also favoured.

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Horseman 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7
Captain 4 3 4 3 3 1 3 2 7
Warhorse 8 3 0 3 3 1 3 1 5

Unit Size: 5+

Options: The unit may replace its spears and shields with bows at +1pt
per model.
The unit may be armed with throwing spears (treat as throwing
axes) for +2pts per model.
One model may be upgraded to a Captain for +6pts.
One model may be upgraded to a standard bearer for +12pts.
One model may be upgraded to a musician for +6pts.

Special Rules

Fast Cavalry: Light Cavalry are Fast Cavalry.

Dogs of War: Being hired from as far afield as the Kislevite border,
Stradiots are wide-ranging mercenaries and can be found in many armies
throughout the Old World. They are therefore Dogs of War.

Tilean Marksmen 10pts per model

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Marksman 4 3 4 3 3 1 3 1 7
Condottieri 4 3 5 3 3 1 3 1 8

Unit Size: 5+

Equipment: Hand weapon, crossbow.

Options: One model may be upgraded to a Captain for +7pts.

Special Rules

Scouts: Tilean Marksmen are expert scouts and can deploy using the
Scouts special rule.

Skirmish: Tilean Marksmen are trained to fight in a dispersed formation
and are Skirmishers.

Dogs of War: Other armies may hire Tilean Marksmen as Dogs of War.

Arquebusiers 9pts per model

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Handgunner 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7
Captain 4 3 4 3 3 1 3 1 7

Unit Size: 10+

Equipment: Arquebus, hand weapon, light armour.

Options: The unit may be given heavy armour for +1pt per model.
One model may be upgraded to a Captain for +5pts
One model may be upgraded to a standard bearer for +10pts.
One model may be upgraded to a musician for +5pts.

Special Rules

Arquebus: The arquebus is an uncommon, relatively light firearm
designed to absorb recoil and with a large bore that makes it easy to
reload. These characteristics enable models armed with arquebuses to
move and fire with their weapons.

Dogs of War

Not all mercenaries fighting for the Tilean princes are Tilean, or even
necessarily human. As a major trading power Tilea receives visitors
from across the known world, among them Dwarfs from Barak-Varr or the
Empire, Halflings, Ogres or mercenaries from Norsca and even further
afield. You may take any one unit from any army other than Tilea with
the Dogs of War special rule as a Special choice.

+10pts
