I guess everyone received this spam, exploiting our registration on IGS. I was surprised that Pandanet would do this. I downloaded the trial package and gave it a spin. After about 5 minutes of playing time (2 minutes for Tensai, 3 for me, it announced the trial period had expired. The program played in a less "robotic" manner than GnuGo, but wasn't any stronger than its free rival.

Since I was not terribly impressed with the level of play, I decided to pass up the offer to purchase the game. Then I uninstalled the program. It did not uninstall properly. Several "boonty games" keys were left in the registry, and files and folders were left on my computer. In particular, a program (that is loaded as a service) called "boonty" remained, and this service loaded when I rebooted my computer. It seems to be designed to remind me to buy some Boonty Games, one of which is Tensai. Smells like adware to me.

I have since removed the last remnants, except for some legacy drivers in the Windows registry that refuse to be removed, even in safe mode. :-(

Cheers, Roy

Curiously, others who installed and uninstalled Tensai Go
and reported it here, did not mention the problem Roy did.
So I installed Tensai Go on a Windows 2000 Pro system, played
a game, quit and then used the Uninstall program. I saw
the "boonty" only after I quit Tensai Go. It's been a day
and a half now, and I rebooted and restarted the the Windows
system many times. I have not seen the boonty since.
I asked two friends to try the same, and they did not have
any problems with or after uninstalling Tensai Go.

So far, I only know Roy experienced some problems. However,
that is not to say others may experience the same.
