Re: Hikaru No Go (a Go anime).

The HnG series has filled a lot of children with enthusiasm for Go. Some

of himself, believes he is going to become a Go professional, plays at
30-kyu or worse, has an attention span measured in milliseconds, and
asks multiple questions without reading the replies.

Other users are likely to find this annoying, though I think it would be
wrong to blame the manga or anime.

I fully support that and agree.

I myself dislike the anime for just this reason. I lost count how many
all-too-full-of-themselves SaiXXXs or HikaruXXXs players I have met on
the net. They were all, without exception, exactly like you describe.
Ignorant to the point not even bothering to read the rules, with
attention-span of a fruit-fly, not interested in any help or hints,
while at the same time very vocal, disrespectful, and proclaiming
themselves champions who need to be challenged by other, much lesser
players.

Yuck.

No matter how many times I tell myself that my dislike for the manga or
anime is irrational, and I should only dislike the people who display
the bad behavior, each time I meet another Sai or Hikaru I want to
barf.

At these times when I meet such people, I wish the manga was never
written.

I just can't help it.
