Thats very true :D But I've heard mention of chinese pros formally requesting if a tengen play is acceptable in the opening. on sensies somewhere... sorry, I cant find it... anyone else?

The etiquette only tells you to occupy the lower triangle of the upper right quadrant. Tengen is fine and has been used in high-ranking professional games.
