Sometimes you'll run out of trail rations and have to eat the meat of
various creatures you've killed. Depending on the environment, these
creatures won't always be of the types usually hunted for meat. I
suggest the following rules for eating monster meat.
My first DM said our pack horse ran away when we were fighting some zombies. We went into the dungeon. The DM told us if we didn't eat something soon we would start taking damage. We killed a giant snake so my charactor had the bright idea to eat it. I mean people eat rattlesnakes in the real world all the time. The DM said poisonous snakes had poison meat and told us we were dead.
He's right. A poisonous snake's meat would be poisonous. This is true by definition. A venomous snake's meat on the other hand would be good unless it were also poisonous.
