I spent a lot of time in several different churches regularly in K-12.
Raised Catholic pretty thoroughly (CCD, altar boy, choir), but I got
sent to several other churches (Baptist, Methodist) over the years as
well.

Even in small churches, the self-important start bubbling to the top
early. Indoctrination of children has been mentioned, but the underside
of that is false indoctrination. I frequently saw even sunday school
teachers passing on their own false beliefs as church doctrine. And it
was rare for parents to sit in and see what was going on.
