No. I noticed the takeover of the moralists by a small and well-organized
political group.

Make no mistake about who's in control, there. It has nothing to do with
religion, and everything to do with power. Religious beliefs in that power
structure are adapted to and subordinate to the needs of power.

I disagree. The insidious nature of the way religion is spread,
particularly the brainwashing of children when they are too young to make
their own critical judgments, gives it a unique quality when it comes to
exploiting people.

Generalization too broad to do much with. While there are certainly plenty
of things which work like this, and happen to be religions, there are both
things like this which are not religion, and religions which are not like
this.
