prohibition is a strong reason why experiments with what are considered
"recreational drugs" are difficult to set up, especially for measuring such
ephemeral things as spiritual experiences.

There are tons you can use for such experiments still, and really, I don't
think it's a religious question to begin with.

It's a political and economic question, into which some gullible religious
people have been coopted.
