While science probably could do some telling inquiry into this area, we
typically don't allow it to. :-)

That is a problem I would like to see remedied. Along those lines, I feel
religion has in many ways stifled this sort of exploration.

I don't think this one is on religion's head. We're very careful about
the implications of research on humans, even going so far as to shun the
stuff the Nazis did in WWII.
