I see now that the cost of masterwork arms and armor is in the same section as spell material components, suggesting that you're right about the base price being unaffected by that.

Well, that just makes it even easier to raise dead. In theory a 9th level cleric with the craft wonderous items feat and a gigantic pile of money could make one of these things, and raising 600,000 gp shouldn't be out of reach of a good-sized nation or major church.

Of course, it's worth noting that in the fabled kingdom of Theory it is also possible to craft a use-activated sword of true striking for 1,000 gp and 80 XP, which grants +20 insight to your every attack roll. :)
