Do you believe such action works with anyone, or group, that sees
kindness as weakness ?

My point exactly, any group that sees kindness, or respect and
regards
that as weakness, needs to be shown different. Such as Muslims.
Ken

You know, up to the last comment I was cutting you some slack.
I don't
agree with you but heck, live and let live. But after such a broad
and
negative comment like that... sorry that just makes you a bigot.

Tetsubo,
He thinks if you are nice to a bear, it won't kill you and eat you
if it can. He can't see past kindergarden thinking. The world is
like that bear, it looks for weakness. You are wasting your time
cutting me slack. The world is just like the bear, you can like
bears, be nice to bears, but it's looking for a weakness and will kill
you if it can. You believe that the radical Muslims have respect when
we show kindness? Ken

You see, you made a distinction there. You referenced "radical
Muslims", a sub-set of Muslims. Your prior statement included all
Muslims.

I don't believe for a second that a group of radical persons of
any
political or religious stripe can be easily reasoned with... But you
must use reason. It is your best and most important tool. With
determination and luck you might get through to them, eventually. But
"fighting" them head on will not work. These aren't the Nazis here.
This
isn't one cohesive group in one physical location. You either win them
over through compassion and reason or you lose. Again and again and
again...

Education, reason, compassion. Those will work far better than
any
plane, rifle or tank. Be an example to others. Back on track, torture
is
not something I want others to think of when "America" pops into their
heads...

Even if you could "scare" radical nutjobs with the threat of
torture,
people don't stay scared forever... eventually they stand up and stop
taking your sh*t...

And frankly, I think it would be easier to train a bear...

You can "train" a bear, but you can never domisticate them. That is a
huge difference. A "trained" bear will kill you as well. We can't
live with bears. Ken

Actually there isn't any reason you couldn't domesticate bears.
It
would take a great deal of time and effort but it is quite possible. No
one has ever put in the effort though because it would be a monumental
task for little gain. Bears aren't the best candidate for domestication.
Many other animals that are far easier to domesticate can fill any
"bear" roles. You will note that most domesticated animals are
herbivores. It just makes sense.

But that isn't what this thread is about. This thread is about
using
torture while maintaining a LG status. Which isn't possible. It is also
about the fact that using torture is immoral and should not be condoned
nor practiced by any civilized nation, either officially or otherwise.

Agreed,

Oh, bullshit.

but people would rather throw insults at me. Torture is
immoral and should not be condoned,

No, it shouldn't. You support it, though.

but sometimes people use it thinking they can get information out
of people quickly.

No, more like they want to use it as a terror weapon.

Sometimes they use it just because they have to get the hatred out of
themselves, and has nothing to do with the victim. Human beings are
by nature cruel and uncaring, unless there is a reason. Why I can't
tell you. Look at Terry, look at "The Captian of his own soul", you
disagree and they try and torch you.

Nope. I have very civil discussions with many people who I disagree with.

Animals, and you can't stop them.

All humans are animals. Duh.
